Wuasi
Award-winning project by the Creative for Our Future program from Swarovski Foundation.
Wuasi is an exploration into fungi dye that combines sustainable fashion and biodesign. Through Wuasi, I’ve successfully produced dyed fabrics with fungi dye that not only showcase unexpected and unique designs but also contribute to reducing the fashion industry’s environmental footprint.
Handmade fungi-dye
The brand positions its garments in a circular economy, utilizing 100% natural fibers woven or knitted by hand to ensure quality and longevity. In biodesign, the brand innovatively explores eco-friendly coloring processes using microscopic fungi on natural fiber fabrics. This textile laboratory dissociates from polluting elements, offering a sustainable approach to design and creation.
Zero Waste
Zero waste, another design tool, focuses on pattern design from rectangles to minimize textile waste. The absence of curved lines allows it to reduce its textile waste and use the material best.
In this way, within the pattern, there are no curved lines but only straight lines, and it is through the clamps that the pieces are made to fit the body, making them comfortable and versatile.
Upcycling
Although Zero Waste doesn’t reach 0%, the generated waste is repurposed for accessories, packaging, and labels, completing the brand’s commitment to sustainability within the circular economy.
